To The Batwa

In the lush, mountainous region of Kisoro, southwestern Uganda, where misty hills meet forgotten communities, God is writing a powerful story. Among the Batwa people—an indigenous group long pushed to the edges of society—hope is quietly but steadily taking root.

Once forest dwellers, the Batwa were evicted from their ancestral lands decades ago, leaving them without where to call home, impoverished, and isolated. With little access to education, healthcare, or the gospel, their lives had been marked by despair and neglect. Yet, God continues to open doors for ministry and healing. Through a partnerships, we felt God call us to be part of their story, for gospel engagement.

Today, gospel parnter Jethro and his wife have stepped into the community not merely as missionaries, but as neighbors and humble incarnational leaders of God’s love, moving to live among the Batwa and do life with them with the hope of planting gospel communities. Through discipleship and community engagement initiatives, the Batwa continue to long for a transformative experience and the healing that comes through the gospel.

In June 2023, Reaching Frontiers, in service with ministry partners and local Churches was able to distribute audio Bibles in their own language. The Batwa continue to long for genuine relationships through which opportunities for the gospel can be shared. It was encouraing to see many encounter audio Scripture in their heart language.

Today, the Batwa are no longer just a forgotten people. They are a people being remembered, loved, and discipled. We are witnessing what happens when the gospel touches the most overlooked places: dignity is restored, lives are transformed, and entire communities begin to shine. Many churches, including the Anglican Church and other church plants, continue to thrive in this community. As a ministry, we desire and continue to long for such gospel engagement. All we want is to be part of the story of God’s transformative power among the least reached through local gospel parntnerships.

This is just the beginning. And we praise God for what He is doing in Kisoro.
