Build The Church

In the village of Nataparakwangan, nestled among the hills and dust-laden paths of Karamoja, the Church once met under a tree—gathering in the kraal between cattle, dust, and flies. It was a humble gathering, but filled with hunger for the Word. Rain or sun, the believers would come. But often, Bible study would be cut short by the weather, or the stench of dung would make fellowship difficult sometimes. Still, faith grew.

The Gospel was taking root, and the community began to notice.

They saw the transformation in the lives of men and women who always gathered for prayer. They saw children being taught, women finding a place of dignity, and elders respected and engaged. Slowly, suspicion turned into curiosity—and then into faith.

Then came a moment we’ll never forget.

In a communal meeting, the village elders stood and said: “We have seen the impact of the Church. We want to give land for this work.”

The decision was unanimous. A piece of land in the heart of the community was set apart for the building of a church. It wasn’t just a donation, it was an offering. An act of recognition that the Gospel had brought life, peace, and purpose to their village.

But the story didn’t end there.

The people didn’t wait for help from outside. They owned the process. Men and women ventured into the forest to cut timber. Women collected mud and water. Youth joined hands to build. Singing and laughter marked the workdays. What rose from that patch of land was more than a structure—it was a testimony.

A testimony that the Church belongs not just to missionaries or pastors, but to the people themselves. A testimony that the Gospel had not only reached hearts but had transformed a whole community.

Today, that structure stands—modest, made of timber and mud, but filled with glory. It is a place of worship, learning, healing, and hope. It is a reminder that when the Gospel takes root, communities are not only changed—they become builders of the Kingdom.

As one church member joyfully said, “Before, we worshipped under trees, among the cattle. Now, we have a place where we can come and meet to pray.”

Indeed, Nataparakwangan gave more than land—they gave their hearts, their hands, and their future to the Lord.
